Prairie Region

Grassland, sagebrush plains and agriculture croplands dominate this region. The most striking feature is the absence of trees, except in river valleys and coulees where moisture is sufficient to support cottonwoods and other deciduous trees. Much of this region is ranching and farming country.

Travel

You can reach the major centres in the Prairie Region on all-season highways. Regularly scheduled flights depart from the Calgary International Airport to Lethbridge and Medicine Hat. The region is connected by paved highways and gravel roads.
