Following the hunting season in Alberta, annual Game Harvest Surveys are conducted to assess the hunting
harvest by resident hunters.
Under Alberta’s Wildlife Regulation, it is mandatory to report harvest and effort on all special licences
purchased. Harvest reporting can be completed through
Alberta RELM or through the
Alberta RELM app
.
Hunters failing to submit harvest and effort survey results for special licences purchased will be subject
to a $15 survey surcharge payable on their next wildlife
certificate purchase.
Information from hunter harvest and effort surveys, aerial surveys, research, observation and public input are
used to assess wildlife populations
and help determine available hunting opportunities for the following hunting season.
