Areas currently affected by this advisory include Eastern Slopes Fish Management Zone (FMZ) Watershed Units ES1 and ES2. For more information about these areas and the current fisheries regulations applied to them, visit the Alberta Regulations website at:
Continuing low river flows and higher than normal water temperatures have prompted an advisory for Alberta anglers to voluntarily restrict angling activities to early mornings to help reduce stress on fish populations.
Anglers fishing in Watershed Units ES1 and ES2 of the Eastern Slopes Fish Management Zone (FMZ) should exercise additional caution and are encouraged to:
- fish in stocked ponds and lakes
- fish only between Midnight and 2:00 p.m.
- use single point, single hook lures or flies (i.e. no treble hooks or multiple hooks on a single lure or fly)
- minimize handling time and release fish as quickly as possible
Anglers are encouraged to download the Alberta Rivers app to get up-to-date information on flows and advisories for basins in their area.
There are no waterbody closures at this time.
For more information regarding the waterbody closures, please contact the Fish and Wildlife office in that area:
